West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has encouraged people to respect the decision to change international allegiance from Republic of Ireland to England of Declan Rice.
The Hammers midfielder has revealed his decision contributed to his family at some vitriolic online abuse and threats against him.
Even the 20-year-old proceeded to create three appearances, but crucially not in matches, before declaring his intention and represented the Irish group at youth level.
With Pellegrini insisting it is time to proceed rice won a cap to England in the 5-3 win over Kosovo in St Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday in their European Qualifier and has established himself in the strategies of Gareth Southgate.
”I believe Declan delayed his decision and had a feel and a conversation with all the people important for him I really don’t have any doubt it was the ideal decision Declan took for his lifetime ” Pellegrini said before West Ham’s match with Aston Villa – reside Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
”Obviously, not everybody is pleased, but everyone has to respect him for that and he should not give them too much significance since it doesn’t matter what other folks think.”
Pellegrini reported no fresh injury concerns after the international break and supported winger Michail Antonio has undergone surgery on a problem he endured at Newport.
”I expect that the surgery went well. The doctors are happy and he needs time to recover,” Pellegrini added.
”I just spoke with him he is with no hassle, so that everything is going in the correct manner”
