Kilkenny Camogie manager Ann Downey has stepped in the aftermath of her successive defeat.
Downey led the Cats in 2016 to glory, however, was unable to replicate the trick.
The Noresiders dropped to some loss at the hands of Galway in Croke Park on Sunday to Cork at 2018 and 2017.
She made the statement in the room following the defeat to the Tribeswomen.
”Ann Downey has opted to step down from her managerial role with the Kilkenny senior camogie team,” explained Kilkenny Camogie chairperson Sheila Norris in an announcement on Monday morning.
”Having done a yearlong stint from 2008-2009 and hitting the All Ireland in 2009, she took over the reins in 2016, bringing the group to maintain that his first All Ireland in twenty two years in her very first year in charge. Three in a row National League Division 1 names reaching the All-Ireland final in each of the years and really in 2019 as well as were secured in 2016, 2017 and 2018. We also won three Leinster names in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She received manager of this year’s accolade .
”Kilkenny Camogie is very grateful to Ann for its time and dedication she has contributed to Camogie within the last four decades. Her devotion to her sport and to her county was next to none and we need her all the very finest in her future endeavours.”
